Until We Meet Again Old Friend…

“To call him a dog hardly seems to do him justice, though inasmuch as he had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit he was, to all outward appearances. But to those who knew him well, he was a perfect gentleman. “ - Hermione Gingold

Today we said goodbye to our good  old boy, Monty.  It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone we love so very much.  Monty lived a very long, and a very full life thanks to all of the care that Adam has given him.  Monty passed peacefully this morning in Adam’s arms.  We miss him so very much, but know that one day we will meet again.  Until then, may we find comfort in knowing that he was surrounded by his loving family and that he is no longer in pain.

Going Home: Finding Peace

“If there is a heaven, it's certain our animals are to be there. Their lives become so interwoven with our own, it would take more than an archangel to detangle them. “ – Pam Brown

6 Month Stats!!

AJ had his 6 month checkup with Dr. Cramer today.  She was very impressed with his ability to sit on his own.  She was also impressed that he has found a way to get around the house….rolling from one end of the room to the next in order to get something he’s got his eye on :)  Obviously she could tell from the looks of him that he’s getting PLENTY to eat and we can feed him as much REAL food as he wants.  He was very excited about this tonight as we fed him a nice healthy portion of peas!

Weight: 20 lb 5 oz. (90th percentile)
Height: 27.5” (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.5” (75th percentile)
AJ was VERY vocal throughout his appointment…babbling away and screeching with delight.  He even handled his shots like a trooper.  His favorite thing about his doctor visit today…that would be a tie between the little Elmo on Dr. Cramer’s stethoscope and the paper on the table!!  (I’m pretty sure they billed us for the entire roll that he tore apart!)

A Big Thank You to Grammy & Pepere!!

We can’t thank Grammy & Pepere enough for taking such good care of AJ while Adam and I took a “vacation” this past weekend.  Even though our “holiday” was a bust, AJ had a great time with Grammy & Pepere.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!  With Grammy’s help, we managed to keep AJ on a solid nap and bedtime schedule.  We’re over the hump (dare I say it) with crying it out and he’s now able to soothe himself to sleep.  We are a very happy Mommy and Daddy!
AJ celebrated Great-Memere’s 89th Birthday on September 10th.  He also got to meet “cousin” Jacob!

A Little R&R…Well, Sort of!

Adam and I decided that a full-fledged family vacation wasn’t in the cards just yet, but we definitely needed a long weekend to recharge.  We sent AJ to Grammy & Pepere’s and we packed up the car to head off to Boothbay Harbor, Maine for the weekend where we stayed at the Boothbay Resort.

We had a few stow-aways!

They LOOK like they are mildly relaxed....keep in mind, this was taken in the driveway!

We arrived in Boothbay Harbor just in just over 3 hours.  The dogs were very well behaved for the drive on up.  Of course, they had no idea where we were actually going...The Boothbay Resort was a wonderful pet-friendly grouping of cabins close to the downtown harbor area.  I highly recommend it if you want a little R&R with your furry friend...but only if they enjoy traveling with you.

Our vacation lasted all of four hours...we managed to capture these photos on our little jaunt into town after dropping after unpacking and setting the dogs up at the cabin.  We did enjoy a very nice lobster/crab dinner, but returned to find three very nervous dogs eager to go home.  We left first thing in the morning....*sigh* Next time, we vacation without them ;)

Time for some new threads...

As you can see...AJ is growing sooooo fast!  Grammy calls him "Baby Bam Bam".  I call him the "Incredible Hulk Baby" (especially when he wakes in the morning and he's busted open his jammies!)

Busting out of my clothes!

Check out my new threads!

I Look Gooo-ooood!

Mmmm…SQUASH!!

AJ had his first taste of squash this week.  He’s just about six months old now and knew he was ready for the big time when he intently watched Daddy shovel an ice cream sundae into his mouth.  Then when grabbed Daddy’s chocolate donut right out of his hands, we decided to give it a go!
