Under One Roof!!!

The Pouliots have been reunited and are all under one roof tonight!!! And it feels awesome. Robert's morning at the hospital today started off not terrible but not much better either. 

(Believe it or not, he's HAPPILY watching cartoons in there. )

Even Robert though had enough of this "adventure". I kid you not, he started raking his sippy cup across the bars of his cage...errr crib, and I swear I heard him singing "No-boddddy knooooows..."

The doctors decided that if he didn't start taking in fluids on his own, then he would have to stay another night. Well...a little after noon, we had made arrangements to stay for a third night. This must not have been in Robert's plan, so he took a nap to sleep on it and woke up a much different child. He woke hungry and thirsty and showed those nurses what was up. 

They called the doctor in for another evaluation and we were released!!! Yahooooo!!!

Now THIS is a happy face!!

Now the real challenge comes tomorrow in trying to keep him "quiet" as the least amount of activity is VERY taxing for him.

Well Wishes for my Little Man

Well....when it rains it pours.  The winter season is tough on any family...but for families with small children...in daycare, it can be BRUTAL!  We are battling the winter plague in every sense of it and in every variation of cold and flu viruses.  Unfortunately, Robert has taken the hit the worst so far and was admitted to the hospital yesterday.  The poor little guy tested positive for influenza A and pneumonia.  He's doing ok and he's definitely in the right place with lots of fabulous nurses to look after him.  Even though he can't shake the fever and he's having a tough time breathing, we've seen glimpses of our happy-go-lucky little guy.  During those moments, it's tough to keep him contained within the confines of our hospital room walls....and forget about trying to keep him from ripping off the wires and IV....sheesh! Robert also surprised us with a new word (and I think he surprised himself too.)  He now says "MONKEY!" (as he proudly holds up his little brown stuffed monkey baby)

We're hoping that after another round of antibiotics tonight, some more Tylenol, and a good night of rest, that we'll be good enough to come home tomorrow.  Of course, "good enough" is not good enough for momma.  I want him to be HEALTHY to be able to come home.

A little perkier.  It didn't last long though.  He gets tired very easily.  Just looking at books wiped him out for a few hours.



Growing and Learning

The kids are growing so fast and learning so much. I was fortunate to be able to spend three and a half weeks with the kids on vacation during the holiday season. In that time, I got to witness just how much they are learning. It seemed that every time I turned around, Robert was doing something new or that AJ was putting something together in his mind or spouting off new songs or rhymes. AJ's imagination is running wild these days and listening to him play is a hoot. He makes up elaborate scenarios for his Lego people (Officer Phil and "Inspectigator" Daddy go on a lot of calls...they also take the train everywhere!). I took a picture of AJ the other day and my God, I swear he looked to be FIVE years old, not two! (Although lately he reminds me that on his next birthday he will be three...and he wants a strawberry cake with sprinkles.)  I love every single minute of this.

Having Ourselves a Merry Little Christmas

It's almost 9:00 PM on Christmas night....the entire Pouliot family is WIPED.  This Christmas season was absolutely MAGICAL.  I cannot believe how much fun it was to live the magic of Christmas through the eyes of my children.  From the moment the elf arrived, to decorating the tree, and shopping for Christmas goodies, each and every day of this holiday season has been so much fun.

Prior to Christmas day, AJ and I made some yummy treats for the boys' teachers at school.  We stuck miniature candy canes in marshmallows, dipped them in melted chocolate, and then rolled them in crushed peppermint candy canes.  After they were all packaged up, we put them in cute little mugs with some packets of hot chocolate.  A tasty treat for the holiday season.  AJ's favorite part of this project was smashing the candy canes.  He also enjoyed giving the presents to his teachers.

Shopping for the boys was a lot of fun this year.  Along with store bought gifts, I wanted to do something special for the boys.  I decided to make them some presents.  I set to work on making super hero capes, and with help from my mom, the COOLEST, most OUT OF THIS WORLD rocket ship tent.  It was so much fun working on these projects.  I hope the boys know some day how much love went into each and every stitch.  Along with the tent, I made a mobile of stars that glow in the dark to hang from the ceiling in the tent.  I also made a cushion for the bottom.  It's cozy enough to sleep in there!  Santa of course did not disappoint.  AJ's number one wish list item was a robot with a remote control.  It's hard to say what he's most excited about....the guitar, the robot, the tent.  Who knows...but he played with every. single. thing.  I'm quite sure that for Robert, his favorite gift is a toss up between the new recliners and the rocket ship tent.

Robert woke before AJ.  He tried so hard to just "look" and not touch.

I showed the tent to the kids before we opened presents.  They were both pretty excited about it.  AJ was more stunned by it at first.  Robert just thought it was the cat's pajamas!

 

 

 After the kids played in their new tent for a while, it was time to open presents!!!!

Harley on the other hand hasn't relaxed since....even when it's turned OFF.

 

 

They've even been playing TOGETHER!!!

'Tis the Season!

The dusting of snow has put the Nashua Pouliots into the holiday spirit. We passed the morning today with Christmas music blaring and decking the halls...well the toy room anyway. 

Someone is just a tad excited for Santa to come this year!
